This from the National Weather Service:
SEVERAL RIVERS ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS COULD SEE RAPID RISES AND FLOODING BY SATURDAY MORNING. CREEKS AND SMALL STREAMS MAY ALSO FLOOD FROM THE HEAVY RAINFALL.
Did I mention that a tributary of the Arkansas River runs, oh, about thirty yards behind our house? Used to, anyway. Now it’s more like five feet from our retaining wall. Said wall is, we have been assured, well sealed. I suppose we’ll soon get a chance to test that assertion. And then there’s the fact that the retaining wall is only three feet high.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON CURRENT FORECASTS.
Oh believe me, National Weather Service, I am flood watching.
THOSE LIVING IN FLOOD PRONE AREAS SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLOODING DEVELOP.
I don’t think my truck can hold all our books. And then there’s the kids to think of. Good thing I bought that inflatable dinghy a while back.
